Job Template Creation

  1. Navigate to the Metasponse web UI:
  • For Centralized employments, use a web browser to navigate to Metasponse Server's Web UI
  • For Standalone or Semi-Centralized employments, execute the Metasponse Web UI link on the desktop of the MIP's Windows VM
  1. Navigate to Job -> New Job in the top menu bar
  2. Create categorized job templates using the details outlined in each of the following sections

Be sure to verify authentication credentials with a second person in order to avoid potential user lock-outs in the targeted environment.

Adding authentication credentials to job templates is highly recommended if the information is available. If more than one set of authentication credentials will be used, then it is recommended to create multiple templates with a string appended to the job name to signify which credentials are populated in the template. (examples: (USER:cptadmin) or (DOMAIN:tku.ua))

Both custom and built-in plugins are specified within the templates, some of which provided overlapping data. Reasons for this:

  • Some plugins offer more detailed data than others
  • Some plugins may fail to collect information on a system while its overlapping equivalent succeeds
  • To have full ECS compliance (via custom plugins)
